The UFC has started booking the lineup for UFC on FOX 8 and started things off on a solid note with an announcement stating lightweights Mac Danzig-Melvin Guillard had agreed to square off at the summer show. Adding a level of intrigue, the two could very well be competing for continued employment, as each has struggled to find consistency in the eight-sided cage as of late.
No main event has been attached to the July 27 event.
Danzig holds a career mark of 21-10-1 but has come up short in six of his last ten tilts. However, the Ultimate Fighter 6 winner should provide a tough test for Guillard given the fifteen finishes on his record and past wins over Efrain Escudero, Joe Stevenson, and Mark Bocek.
The 30-12-2 Guillard was on the cusp of contending for the title in late 2011 before suffering the first of four losses in his following five fights. Nineteen of his victories have featured a strike-based stoppage.
