Strikeforce veteran Anthony Smith will get his shot in the UFC this summer though the 24-year old finisher won’t have an easy task to overcome in his organizational debut. According to multiple reports, Smith is scheduled to battle rising star Antonio Braga Neto in the Brazilian’s proverbial backyard at UFC on Fuel 10. The bout will also mark Neto’s official unveiling in the Octagon.
GracieMag was first to report the match-up’s addition to the June 18 card. The show is headlined by a heavyweight tilt between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira–Fabricio Werdum and will also feature the crowning of a new TUF Brasil champion.
Smith holds an overall record of 17-9 with sixteen wins by way of stoppage including an even split between TKOs/submissions. He was last seen falling to Roger Gracie in January but had won three straight prior to the stumble.
The 8-1 Neto has also finished all but one of the opponents he’s beaten with the bulk of his victories featuring some form of submission. Among his past wins are those against the likes of Brock Larson, Cezar Ferreira, and Maiquel Falcao.
