Featherweight Cub Swanson has put together one of the nicest runs at 145 pounds in some time, scoring four straight triumphs including a recent outpointing of Dustin Poirier. While he may need another win or two before cementing a title-shot, the 29-year old Jackson’s MMA product will definitely have a chance to stamp his name as a frontrunner for the opportunity when he faces Dennis Siver at UFC 162.
Swanson’s streak has improved his career mark to 19-5. He has finished fourteen of the foes he’s beaten including Oliveira, George Roop, and Ross Pearson.
The 21-8 Siver is also backed by some decent momentum, taking out Diego Nunes and Nam Phan since moving down to featherweight. Like Swanson, Siver is known for ending his adversaries evenings before time expires, owning nine wins by way of submission with another five by knockout.
