It wasn’t long ago UFC welterweight Rory MacDonald was lined up for a clash with Carlos Condit this weekend at UFC 158 where he hoped to get his hands on the only man to have beaten him inside the ring. However, the 23-year old strained his neck while training for the tilt and had to withdraw with the expectation he’d be ready to resume his regular schedule in a month.
Unfortunately, as he’s been noted for doing in the past, it appears MacDonald may have hit things a little too hard instead of approaching things at the proper pace. As a result, “Ares” will miss even more time after revealing he’d aggravated the injury again and was going to see a specialist in the coming days.
“I was trying to get back slowly into training and I was just doing technique and I just tweaked it,” explained MacDonald to SportsNet.
MacDonald is 14-1 in his career but seems to be bitten by the injury bug more often than not. He’s only seen action twice in each of the last two years with 2013 looking to be similar in terms of his activity. No return date was offered relating to MacDonald’s latest setback.
