Junior dos Santos-Mark Hunt meeting on Memorial Day Weekend

Mark Hunt - UFC 144UFC heavyweight Junior dos Santos recently made it clear he wanted to compete at UFC 160 despite original opponent Alistair Overeem going out with an injury and Mark Hunt’s fans petitioned for the heavy-handed PRIDE veteran to fill the vacancy. Both will get their wishes.

According to an official announcement, “Cigano” and the “Super Samoan” will scrap at the May 25 show.

Dos Santos, a former divisional champion, holds an overall record of 15-2 with eleven TKOs. Among the number of apt adversaries he’s beaten in impressive fashion are the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Frank Mir, and current title-holder Cain Velasquez.

The 9-7 Hunt is also a knockout artist thanks to his power and polished kickboxing background. Six of his wins have involved strike-based stoppages including those in the Octagon over Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve.

    Hunts done.

  • Mad_Hatter_XX says:

Should be interesting while it lasts. JDS should have this one as long as he doesn’t stand flat footed in front of Hunt.

Glad they salvaged the fight and let two guys who want to throw down earn a living.

  • Creature says:

This is going to be a very fun fight. I say it will be very competitive for at least 2 rounds and then I think Hunt will gas and it will be all JDS.

  • raker says:

If Velasquez can hit and hurt JDS then Hunt, a former k-1 champion, has a good shot. This fight is far from being a guaranteed win for JDS.
