Tim Boetsch battling Mark Munoz at UFC 162

Mark Munoz - UFCMiddleweight action has been added to the July 6 lineup for UFC 162 in the form of a match-up between Tim Boestch and Mark Munoz. Both men are near the upper-echelon of their respective division thanks to a number of notable wins despite losses in their most recent rumbles.

UFC officials have confirmed the clash’s presence on the card’s lineup. UFC 162 is headlined by a title-defense from 185-pound champion Anderson Silva who faces unbeaten grappler Chris Weidman at the event.

Boetsch is 16-5 in his career with a 4-1 mark at middleweight. “The Barbarian” had beaten the likes of Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard prior to suffering a strike based defeat to Costas Philippou last December.

The 12-3 Munoz has been out of action since losing to Weidman last May. He too had won four straight before the stumble including success against C.B. Dollaway, Demian Maia, and Chris Leben.

I never thought much of Munoz. The fighter no the man. And I’ve always loved hyper aggressive Judo of Boetsch, plus I used to live in the town he’s from. I actually think Boestch keeps this on the feet and manhandles Munoz.

  • AlphaOmega says:

Was Munoz injured after his Weidman fight? That’s a pretty long lay off

  • Brendhan Conlan says:

    Yeah, injury-related layoff.

I like Tim a lot, but if Munoz is truly healthy here it will probably not be a good night for Tim. Munoz is a better wrestler and a solid striker, and as long as he doesnt try to strike with Tim for the whole 15 minutes he should get this.
