Diego Sanchez’s Greatest Hits

UFC staple Diego Sanchez will take to the Octagon for the eighteenth time this weekend when he heads to Japan for a fight with Takanori Gomi at UFC on Fuel 8. The bout marks Sanchez’s return to the lightweight division where he excelled over a three-fight run a few years back before deciding he preferred the ease of making 170 pounds.

With a newfound attitude, the 31-year old Sanchez is ready to start the next phase of his career and should be entering his prime. In honor of “The Dream”, as well as the Fuel TV event he’s set to scrap on, here’s a look back at eight of Sanchez’s greatest hits under the UFC banner…

Sanchez’s official debut in the Octagon after his run on the original Ultimate Fighter served as a fine introduction of what fans have since come to expect from Diego. He came out bloodthirsty, pushed the pace, and scored an impressive win in relatively violent fashion.

  • AlphaOmega says:

How many times has Sanchez gotten a new found attitude since getting kicked in the head by Penn?

  • fanoftna33 says:

Great list for sure, but of note Deigo was also one of very few fighters to give Jon Fitch a hell of a fight and arguably beat him that night back at UFC 76.
As much as I love Deigo I still say he lost to Martin.

  • MCM says:

How do you have a Sanchez greatest hit list with no mention of the “Yes!” Crucifix?

And only two people on the planet thought that Sanchez won that fight against Kampmann, and they were both judges.

  • fanoftna33 says:

So true MCM, in a perfect world that would have been the last fight they ever judged though. Like I said I like Diego far more than Martin and I thought it was a cinch decision ( not fight as it was not a easy fight at all) but got literally blown away when Diego won.
