The lineup for the UFC’s March 16 stop in Montreal is continuing to fill up as the date grows ever closer. Though welterweight heavy, UFC 158 also features a number of interesting fights in other divisions including a recently added rumble between bantamweights Mitch Gagnon and Issei Tamura.
SportsNet was first to report the fight. The card is headlined by a title-bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and rival Nick Diaz with other notable welterweight match-ups including Patrick Cote-Bobby Voelker, Carlos Condit-Rory MacDonald, and Johny Hendricks-Jake Ellenberger.
Gagnon’s presence at the show should bring smiles to the faces of fans attending UFC 158 considering his Canadian heritage. The 28-year old submission specialist is 9-2 in his career with all of his wins coming by way of tap-out including an opening round Rear-Naked Choke of Walel Watson in his previous pairing.
Meanwhike, Tamura will be looking to bounce back from defeat after losing to Raphael Assuncao last July. The stumble dropped the 7-3 grappler to 1-1 inside the Octagon, likely making his fight with Gagnon a “must win” affair.
