Mike Kyle calls it a career after loss to Gegard Mousasi

After more than a decade in the ring, light heavyweight Mike Kyle has apparently opted to walk away from MMA and move on to the next phase of his life. The 32-year old’s decision to do so was prompted by his opening round submission loss to Gegard Mousasi last night at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine.

Though not officially announced, UFC reporter Ariel Helwani sent out a Tweet saying Kyle had told him, “It’s not in me anymore. That was my last one.”

The stumble marked Kyle’s second first-frame stoppage in his last two fights, though a 33-second knockout loss to Rafael Cavalcante last May was ruled a No Contest after “Feijao” tested positive for PED use.

Kyle exits the sport with an overall record of 19-9-2. Fifteen of his wins involved some form of finish including twelve TKOs and three submissions.

    I thought the tweet was that Kyle walked past muttering that, not really flat out said it?

    his fight with Brian Olsen will always be the greatest soccer kick outside of pride, brutal it was.
    he looked huge against Gegard, i hope Mousasi considers dropping to MW now he is in the UFC, or bulking up if not, he’s just gonna get out muscled by so many fighters at LHW
