Earlier this week, Ultimate Fighter 16 finalist Mike Ricci called out fellow TUF runner-up Al Iaquinta in hopes of procuring a March 16 match-up in Montreal at UFC 158. Of course, in what should be no surprise to fans who observed Ricci’s behavior on TUF 16, Ricci did so in a completely cool and collected way rather than by questioning his character or dismissing his ability.
Iaquinta has since responded to Ricci, sending a Tweet to UFC President Dana White in hopes of help facilitating the fight’s creation.
“Mike Ricci invited me to a fight in Montreal. I will beat him up, but only cuz he asked so politely. Hook it up please,” wrote the Serra-Longo student.
Both men are definitely in need of a win in the Octagon if hoping to continue their UFC careers. Ricci (7-3) came up short in his bid at a contract last month at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale, losing a Unanimous Decision to Colton Smith, while Iaquinta (5-2-1) was choked out cold by TUF 15 champion Michael Chiesa this past June and hasn’t fought since.
