A little more than a week ago, a slew of UFC scrappers stepped up to the plate and delivered an action-packed outing at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. Nine of the night’s eleven bouts featured a finish including six knockouts. Fortunately, none of the evening’s efforts involved any banned substances.
According to an email from the Nevada Athletic Commission, all of the card’s competitors were tested for drugs and the entire lot came up clean.
The lineup featured two memorable heavyweight match-ups including a particularly noteworthy one between Roy Nelson–Matt Mitrione in the wake of the NAC’s result release of results. Nelson had lobbied for increased drug testing leading up to the bout, originally scheduled against Shane Carwin, while Mitrione was not receptive to the idea after filling Carwin’s injury-based absence.
