UFC on Fuel 6 Results: Cung Le KOs Rich Franklin in finish for the ages

Stateside the sun was just rising this morning but overseas the Octagon was shining bright at UFC on Fuel 6, the organization’s first show in China. The card delivered the UFC’s brand of beautiful brutality to a new audience in Macau and a number of die-hard fans rubbing the sleep out of their eyes to tune in as well.

The historic show was headlined by a middleweight match-up between Rich Franklin and Cung Le, two exciting strikers with championship credentials to boot. Both men entered the bout coming off decision wins in their most recent rumbles and were out to impress in hopes of making a move towards the contendership picture.

The main event lived up to expectations with a highlight-reel finish from Le. Things started out with Franklin looking strong, stringing together some successful combos before the San Shou stylist landed a perfectly placed hook that sent “Ace” facedown to the canvas. The win was Le’s second inside the Octagon and easily the biggest of his career.

Other clashes scheduled for the card included Thiago Silva-Stanislav Nekov, Takanori Gomi-Mac Danzig, and Dong Hyun Kim-Paulo Thiago.

    The fans are awesome

  • moosebaby02 says:

Either Urushitani can take a punch or Lineker has no power. Still a great fight

  • Brendhan Conlan says:

Lineker a nice addition to the flyweight division. Looked sharp.

  • Dufresne says:

What a shot from Le. Not even Silva or Belfort managed to drop Franklin with a single shot.

  • Creature says:

“Holy shit!” is exactly what i said when Le hit Franklin, Brutal KO. I didnt watch the post presser but I think Rich is prolly considering retirement now.

I called that ko yesterday and man was it great. Frankling was looking good great combos but man did he get caught

  • WOW, I never saw that coming, Rich was effectively whooping Cung’s ass, and then CRACK!
Nedkov looked good, he just gassed out , Good fight and great comeback from Silva.
Danzig vs Gomi was a great fight, it just paled in comparison to the two before it.
Dong’s grappling was on point, I liked that fight despite all the booing.
Hellbound can take some insane punishment, that was nuts. Great showing by Mizugaki.
The Wolf and Jon Tuck was an outstanding fight.
Great first showing in China. Great card.

Dufresne, Vitor managed to drop Franklin with a grazing left cross but it just lightning fast and Vitor managed to sneak in punches as Franklin was down. If you watch the slow mo you can clearly see Franklin’s legs buckle

Before Rich could take a punch but I think now his age has finally caught up with him and he might have the glass chin syndrome, hope I’m wrong but Cung isn’t exactly a big MW known for one shot KO power in his hands. However it was a perfectly timed accurate hook that caught franklin by surprise, basically anyone would’ve been KOed by that shot. Maybe the two Silva beatdowns, plus the flurry and swarm of death from Vitor could’ve killed Franklin’s chin or maybe it was just a perfect punch.
