Ross Pearson returning to 155 pounds for coaching spot opposite George Sotiropoulos on TUF: Australia vs. UK

After a 1-1 run in the Octagon as a featherweight, Ultimate Fighter 9 winner Ross Pearson has decided to head back up to 155 pounds for at least one future outing after agreeing to serve as the United Kingdom’s representative on the UFC’s upcoming international version of TUF. The show features competitors from the UK taking on those from Australia with George Sotiropoulos serving as the Aussies’ coach.

News of their roles was confirmed last night during Fuel TV’s coverage of UFC on Fuel 4.

The 13-6 Pearson was last seen succumbing to Cub Swanson’s striking in June, while Sotiropoulos (14-4) hasn’t fought since July 2011 when he was knocked out by Rafael Dos Anjos in the opening round of action at UFC 132. However, both men are known for finishing the foes they defeat and should be out for blood considering the national pride involved.

Pearson and Sotiropoulos, who will face off after the season concludes, will each lead a team composed of lightweights/welterweights. TUF: Australia vs. UK (nicknamed “The Smashes”) is expected to start filming this week and will air in early 2013.

I really thought they’d do Pearson/Bones coaches, DUI vs DUI, who’s was worse.

Disclaimer: I know they couldn’t of done that due to weight classes, that was a joke.

Should be a pretty good scrap at the end of the season, I will take Pearson though.
