Eddie Wineland-Scott Jorgensen earn Fight of the Night honors at UFC on FX 3

Fans tuning in to last night’s main card at UFC on FX 3 were fortunate enough to watch a rare sequence involving a trio of consecutive bonus-winning tilts to open up the card before headliners Demetrious Johnson-Ian McCall took over.

Things started out strong with a Fight of the Night effort from bantamweights Eddie Wineland and Scott Jorgensen. The two went at it full speed from the instant they initially locked horns, exchanging stiff shots back and forth throughout the entire bout including the strike from Wineland that ended things in the second stanza. The entertaining affair earned each man an extra $40,000 on top of his regularly contracted rate

Though Wineland’s finish of Jorgensen was certainly a worthwhile contender for Knockout of the Night, the award understandably went to Mike Pyle who left opponent Josh Neer face-down in the final ten seconds of their bout’s opening round. The stoppage was Pyle’s second straight, as well as only the second time Neer had been knocked out in his 44-fight career, and scored Pyle an additional $40,000 for the bonus-winning distinction.

Finally, Erick Silva scored Submission of the Night with his first-frame tap-out of Charlie Brenneman. He too won $40,000 for the honor.

  • Lord Faust says:

Eddie and Scott probably kept a lot of viewers. The prelims were not good. I think it bears repeating, that the main card guys really stepped up.

  • Rece Rock says:

I agree Faust I was gutted by the prelims but that fight woke me up.
