Mark Munoz expects evenly-matched, entertaining fight with Chris Weidman

With recent stumbles from Jason Miller and Jake Ellenberger things haven’t been going as smoothly for the folks at Reign Training Center as they might have liked. However, one of the gym’s core members – Mark Munoz – has a chance to buck the trend next month when he faces Chris Weidman in the main event of UFC on Fuel 4.

Munoz was on scene last Friday night at the Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale in support of Ellenberger where he took some time with Fuel TV’s pre-fight show to address his July 11 meeting with the unbeaten Weidman.

“Chris brings the fight, I bring the fight too. He’s got great jiu-jitsu, great wrestling. I have the same thing,” said Munoz of the match-up. “You’re gonna be seeing some fireworks from me, some bombs flying from me. I know he’s gonna try and do the same thing. So you’re gonna see a high-paced fight.”

“It’s going to be an entertaining fight so don’t blink,” he concluded.

Munoz has won his last four fights and could be in line for a title-shot with a convincing win over the 8-0 Weidman.

  • Rece Rock says:

Munoz is always on the long list to a title shot never the short list….

  • MCM says:

Agreed Rece. All this talk about him being a top contender seems a little far fetched to me.
I think Weidman takes this though. 2012-2013 is gonna be the year Team Serra Longo comes into their own.

  • Weidman has kind of gotten an easy road up to this point and that stops here. He’s shown to be a solid fighter, but when the donkey kong punches start flyin he’s goin down.
