Antonio Silva’s Manager Wants to See Ground Elbows Banned ….
Hmm wonder why…. In other news Jon Jones manager wants to see 12 to 6 elbows legalized.

No shit because DW would be the first offender.

  • Lord Faust says:

Elbows are a catch-22, IMO. They’re a totally valid form of striking, and often a good idea to avoid breaking your hand on the skull (i.e. the hardest part of the human skeleton). I absolutely HATE cut stoppages when the only real damage done was the laceration. (If a guy is rocked badly then fine, it’s a TKO, albeit a messy one.)

I hate fights that have their outcomes affected by cuts rather than solid, staggering strikes. That said, I’m also not a fan of taking weapons away from fighters. It’s bad enough you can thai clinch a guy and knee his nose to the other side of his face, but can’t do so if they manage to touch the ground — the rules do need a review, at the very least.

Bigfoot’s manager makes a point worth discussing, but I don’t really agree with him. I like the idea that Bellator bans them for tournament matches, most likely to avoid the situations I bitched about above. Then again, in that instance my being OK with their banning also has a lot to due with my selfishly wanting to see tournament’s conclude properly. (More Rick Hawns, less Eric Prindles.)

  • Brendhan Conlan says:

Maybe if his client hadn’t opted to throw a half-ass leg kick at a fantastic wrestler he wouldn’t have had to worry about the elbow that split open Silva’s head?

  • Lord Faust says:

Still waiting for Cain’s manager to get a petition signed, banning Bigfoot’s titanium cranium from being used to block punches.

  • MCM says:

Kinda impressed with the list of fighters the UFC should bring back. I was expecting Duffee and AJ, but forgot about Rosholt and Leites. Also didn’t know that Timmay was willing to take the TUF road back to the UFC.
