Eddie Wineland latest fighter scratched from UFC on FOX 2

With a little more than a month remaining before the UFC returns to FOX it appears the card has been infested by injury bugs, as bantamweight Eddie Wineland has been forced to withdraw from the January 28 event after suffering some sort of undisclosed damage while training for his bout with Johnny Bedford. Wineland was looking to snap a two-fight skid and will now have to wait a little longer before receiving his opportunity at course-correction.

News of Wineland’s status was reported by the UFC. Bedford, who himself was a replacement for Demetrious Johnson, is still expected to be booked for the show so opponents are currently being sought.

The lineup saw another contest between Paul Sass and Evan Dunham go down the drain yesterday after Sass suffered an injury. The British submission-specialist has since been replaced by Nik Lentz.

UFC on FOX 2 is highlighted by the tripleheader of Rashad Evans-Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen-Mark Munoz, and Michael Bisping-Demain Maia.
