The list of Bellator’s newly acquired lightweights grew again today with the addition of Ultimate Fighter 8 finalist Phillipe Nover, a 5-3 fighter out of New York who took time off from MMA to focus on personal business after struggling in the UFC and is 1-0 since returning to the ring last month.
According to Nover via his Twitter account, he has not only inked a deal with Bellator but has a date and location for his debut – November 26 and Atlantic City. However, he stopped short of naming an opponent for his Bellator 59 bout.
Nover was referred to by Dana White as being akin to Anderson Silva-like in talent during the Filipino-American’s run on TUF, though the 27-year old never quite lived up to the label after dropping a decision to Efrain Escudero in the season finale and losing two straight afterwards. He also endured a scary moment prior to a scheduled fight with Sam Stout where he suffered a seizure backstage.
Bellator also recently announced the Kurt Pellegrino who will also fight on the November 26 card, taking on Season 4 lightweight finalist Patricky “Pitbull” Freire.
