BJJer Carlo Prater entertained his fellow Texans last night, and those watching at home on HDNet, with a Kimura finish of Ultimate Fighter 9 alumnus Cameron Dollar in the main event at Legacy FC 7. However, it was the submission-savvy Prater’s striking that opened things up in the opening round before his widely respected grappling secured the night-ending technique on Dollar in the second stanza.
The 28-10-1 veteran finds himself on a three-fight winning streak with the victory including a showing at Strikeforce Challengers 14 where he choked opponent Bryan Travers out cold. Prater also holds past wins over Pat Healy and Carlos Condit.
Also notable on the card, journeyman Pete Spratt scored the evening’s fastest stoppage with a 25-second knockout of striker Antonio Flores. The 40-year old former football player improved his record to 23-20 with the performance with 21 stoppages to his credit.
While Spratt’s success came the quickest, it was not the only sub-minute result with an upset of Houston-area ace Chad Robichaux coming 45 seconds into his fight against Jonathan Mackles due to a Guillotine Choke. The loss was the first of the Gracie-Barra representative’s career via submission, while Mackles is now 9-1 in his career and has tapped out four of the opponents he’s beaten.
