TUF veterans Tim Credeur and Brad Tavares throwing down in October

A clash between “Crazy” Tim Credeur and 7-1 Brad Tavares has been added to the lineup for UFC 137 with both middleweights looking to rebound from recent losses when they meet on October 29 after a series of successful post-TUF showings in the Octagon prior to the stumbles.

News of the bout was announced through the UFC‘s website.

Tavares suffered the first defeat of his career earlier this month at UFC 132 when former All-American wrestler Aaron Simpson outmuscled him in the clinch and controlled action for enough time to earn a Unanimous Decision victory. The 23-year old, who came up a single bout short of a shot at the Ultimate Fighter Season 11 crown, had gone 2-0 in his previous pair of UFC fights including a win over Phil Baroni.

Comparably, Credeur experienced similar semifinal success on TUF 7 and went on to compile a 3-1 record after the show before suffering a scary knockout to Ed Herman in June at the Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale. The popular Louisianan holds an overall record of 12-4 with all of his wins coming by way of a finishing performance.

UFC 137 is headlined by what should be an epic showdown between welterweight aces Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz with other planned bouts including Roy Nelson vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Matt Mitrione vs. Cheick Kongo, and Carlos Condit vs. B.J. Penn.

  • Screenplaya says:

I dig Credeur. He has personality and an entertaining style. Unfortunately, he also seems to have a case of (Jorge) Gurgel-itis, which compels him to ignore his best skills in favor of swapping knuckles – often to his detriment.

I hope Crazy Tim comes into this fight prepared, because I fear another loss might mean his UFC run is over.
