British lightweight Andre Winner has been released by the UFC on the heels of losses in his last three fights following a pair of wins and a solid showing on the Ultimate Fighter Season 9 prior to the slide. The 29-year old’s last appearance in the Octagon came a little more than a week ago at UFC 132 where he was ultimately outpointed by Anthony Njokuani after absorbing a ton of damage early on.
Winner confirmed his newfound free agency though Twitter where he showed confidence in making an eventual return to the organization and avenging a pair of his previous defeats.
“Yes I have been cut but I’m gonna destroy my future opponents and I’m confident I will get back to the UFC,” wrote Winner. “(I) won’t be happy until I get back to the UFC and get rematched with Njokuani and (Dennis) Siver and kick their ass!”
The 11-6-1 member of Team Rough House, who has never been finished by strikes, holds UFC wins over Roli Delgado and Rafaello Oliveira and has shown a well-rounded approach to competition helping net three TKOs, two submissions, and a handful of decisions thus far in his career.
