Bellator Fighting Championships will hold their first international show next month when the organization travels to Rama, Ontario on July 23. The second stop in the company’s scheduled Summer Series, Bellator 47 will feature the semi-finals of their featherweight tournament as well as a title-defense from 145-pound champion Joe Warren.
Bellator announced the event earlier today through an official press release.
“Our fans have been asking us to come to Canada since our first season,” said CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Casino Rama is an unbelievable venue and should make for a magical night of fights at Bellator 47.”
Warren will put his belt on the line against Patricio “Pitbull” Freire who emerged this past season from a group of eight featherweights competing for the honor of a crack at the outspoken grappler’s gold. In addition to being a title-fight, the bout will provide the 17-1 Freire’s with an opportunity to avenge his only career loss – a Split Decision to “The Baddest Man on the Planet” a year ago at Bellator 23.
Also set for action at the event, the four winners from this month’s opening round of the latest Bellator tournament will mix it up in hopes of moving on to the final in August with a $100,000 payday and title-shot on the line. The lot of competitors include Pat Curran, Ronnie Mann, Marlon Sandro, Luis Palamino, Genair da Silva, Jacob Devree, Adam Schindler, and Nazareno Malegarie.
