Handful of UFC 130 fighters facing up to six months on the sidelines for injury-related reasons

Four of the athletes competing on the main card this past Saturday night at UFC 130 may not see the Octagon again until the end of the year due to damage sustained in their respective bouts including a pair of co-headliners.

According to a report issued by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Frank Mir will both need clearance from a doctor if hoping to fight again before late November, as will Brian Stann, Jorge Santiago, and Michael McDonald.

Perhaps the least surprising in the bunch is Jackson, as the former light heavyweight champ complained of aggravating an already-injured hand shortly after his main event win over Matt Hamill had concluded and felt it could be fractured.

Also worth mentioning, Stann made it clear on his Twitter account he expects to be back sooner than expected, saying, “No way I’m out six months, Thumb is feeling better already (and) should be cleared shortly!”

Read below for a detailed breakdown of UFC 130 medical suspensions:

Michael McDonald – Must have left shoulder x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedist or no contest until 11/25/11; minimum suspension runs until 7/28/11 with no contact until 7/13/11
Rafaello Oliveira – Suspended until 7/28/11 with no contact until 7/13/11 for precautionary reasons

Stefan Struve – Suspended until 7/28/11 with no contact until 7/13/11 for precautionary reasons

Think jones said he be ready in October? Maybe rampage won’t be ready… Maybe we will in fact see Machida get first licks at the champ… Unless Rashad some how walks through Davis and just goes right back into a camp for shot at the belt? See what happens…

Jones has been saying that both he and Rampage have already agreed to fight, they just need to make the date.
