Submission specialist Jason Reinhardt will make his 135-pound debut on August 14 in Milwaukee when he meets rising prospect Edwin Figueroa as part of a UFC Live 5 line-up already featuring Jim Miller’s attempt to solidify his contendership by facing former WEC lightweight champ Ben Henderson and Dan Hardy duking it out with Chris Lytle.
News of Reinhardt’s forthcoming foray with Figueroa was reported by the UFC as was the date of his official dip into the bantamweight pool.
Though the 20-2 Reinhardt is coming off a loss to Tiequan Zhang from February, he has remarkably finished every opponent he’s beaten including sixteen by way of submission and has shown a willingness to go all out early on in the past as evident by the immense number of first round conclusions on his record.
Standing opposite from Reinhardt in the cage, “Fight of the Night” winner Figueroa may have been on the wrong end of the exciting decision defeat to Michael McDonald at UFN 24 but impressed all who caught the bout with his slick groundwork and stand-up prowess. He is 7-1 in his career with the bulk of his wins coming via strikes.
Other match-ups scheduled for UFC Live 5 include Duane Ludwig vs. Amir Sadollah and Stephan Bonnar vs. Karlos Vemola.
