I’m trying to be more excited to see the natural’s last fight because I don’t want to build myself up for a GSP/Shields “war” when it may be more like a scuffle… God I hope I’m wrong but either way the card is stacked and it’s a must see ppv for me.

  • Rece Rock says:

How many buys do you think this PPV is going to top out at?

  • bigbadjohn says:

No it’s not going to be a slobber-knocker or a bar room brawl but try to appreciate the technique Rece. Both St-Pierre and Shields are thorough-bred winners and I can’t begin to fathom how someone who follows this great sport isn’t excited for this super-fight. Champion vs Champion. Both haven’t lost in years for gosh darn sake! Personally, I’m hoping its a ground war so GSP doesn’t just bop Jake around like a pinata because that’s Georges’ clearest advantage

  • Rece Rock says:

Thanks BJJ , I just started watching MMA yesterday, my favorite fighter is Kimbo Slice because he’s the most well rounded fighter in the game. 😉

Ok seriously- I do appreciate both guys skillsets…I am excited… a technical ground war is alot different then a standup war (obviously we aren’t going to see a stand up war sat night) and i just think the HYPE this fight is recieving in comparision to what we may actually watch on saturday is 2 different things… and I wrote “God I hope I’m wrong …” Because I want to see the best these guys got BUT GSP does have a way of making fighters perform at there worst and when that happens it’s 5 rounds of woulda, coulda, shoulda… and that’s not entertaining… Just my opinion.

  • MCM says:

I kinda agree with you Rece. But I think GSP will make this a striking battle and it will look like GSP/Fitch 2. I hope Shields can get him down, but Jake was 5 seconds away from being put to sleep by Mayhem, so I don’t think GSP is gonna be in as much danger as Shields fans are thinking.

  • bigbadjohn says:

I didn’t mean to come across that way Rece. I’m just always so intrigued to watch GSP fight, wondering if he’ll lose his first round in years or have his takedowns stuffed, if he’ll continue his reign of dominance or meet his maker and for once show sign of mental weakness. I’ve seen every champion in the UFC look mortal over the last year (with the new exception of Bones), show holes or lose rounds but not Georges. that, to me is endearing.

  • Rece Rock says:

Yeah those are intriguing possibilities and I hope we do get to see a different side of GSP whether it’s good or bad…. And jones is very human, So human he couldn’t defend his title 😉
