Ultimate Fighter 11 winner Court McGee will have to wait a little while longer to get back into the octagon. Scheduled to fight Jesse Bongfeldt at UFC 131, McGee suffered a torn ACL while training at Cesar Gracie’s Camp and has been forced to withdraw from the bout. Bongfeldt will remain on the card and face Chris Weidman.
McGee picked up his first victory since being crowned TUF 11 champion at UFC 121, showing a ton of heart and submitting Ryan Jensen in the third round of their middleweight clash. The win extended McGee’s win streak to seven fights. Bongfeldt was less successful in his most recent UFC bout, fighting to a draw with Rafael Natal at UFC 124. The draw ended a seven win streak for Bongfeldt. Weidman made a successful UFC debut at UFC on Versus 3, winning a unanimous decision over Alessio Sakara and remaining unbeaten in his MMA career.
UFC 131 is scheduled for June 11, 2011 at the Rogers Center in Vancouver, Canada. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Ultimate Fighter 13 coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.
