The contrasting worlds of Kentucky Fried Chicken and weight-loss collided earlier today when the group of individuals competing Thursday night on Versus at “UFC Live 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann” stepped on the scale in Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center. Though it might have seemed fair no extra pound allowance was permitted regardless of the venue’s name.
Headlining welterweights Diego Sanchez and Mart Kampmann both came in at 171 pounds for their much-ancitipated main event. Sanchez will be looking to build off a unanimous decision win over Paul Thiago this past October when the two meet while Kampmann fell by way off split decision to current top contender Jake Shields at the same event. Both are considered to well-rounded, explosive competitors and neither has ever been submitted in their careers.
Accomplished amateur grapplers C.B. Dollaway and Mark Munoz, who mix it up in middleweight main card action, were 185 and 186 pounds respectively.
Tomorrow night’s supporting cast also features standouts like former WEC bantamweight champ Brian Bowles and TUF 2 winner Joe Stevenson to name a few. Fans can tune in to watch things unfold live on Versus starting at 9:00 PM EST with a pair of live preliminary fights on the UFC’s Facebook page starting an hour earlier.
