Outspoken middleweight Chael Sonnen has joined the ranks of Vitor Belfort, Demian Maia, and others in expressing a desire to stand across the Octagon from Michael Bisping when the Brit next sees in-ring action. However, as fans might expect, Sonnen did so in his own unique fashion and actually sent UFC matchmaker Joe Silva an email that was also, not surprisingly, leaked to media as well.
Titled “Spitsbing and His Tainted Victory,” the two-paragraph message was recently revealed on MMAWeekly where Sonnen tore into Bisping’s controversial behavior against opponent Jorge Rivera last weekend at UFC 127.
“If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it’ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I’m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other’s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.
Oh; and I’d suggest to him being a little careful about spitting on any of MY cornermen, since any one of them can beat him up as badly as I can. Thanks ever so much. Hope all is well.”
If the two 185-pounders do eventually meet the match-up could serve as a means of helping repair Sonnen’s reputation in the public eye after his failed UFC 117 drug test and recent guilty plea in a federal money laundering case. Likewise, the same could possibly be said about Bisping based on Sonnen’s aforementioned transgressions.
The 25-11-1 Sonnen is 3-1 in his last four fights with the lone stumble coming in the closing minutes of what would have been a clear-cut decision victory over remarkable middleweight champ Anderson Silva. He holds past wins in his career over respectable adversaries including Trevor Prangley, Jason Miller, Yushin Okami, Paulo Filho, Dan Miller, and Nate Marquardt.
