UFC parts ways with Gabe Ruediger for second time

In a move as surprising as Megan Fox looking good in a tight dress it appears the UFC has released lightweight Gabe Ruediger after a knockout loss to Paul Taylor a week-and-a-half ago at UFC 126. The performance marked Ruediger’s second consecutive defeat since winning six straight and re-joining the promotion midway through 2010.

News of Ruediger’s release was reported by MMAWeekly. It also looks as though “Godzilla” is considering a drop down to featherweight after explaining he hadn’t needed to cut a significant amount to make 155 for the bout with Taylor.

Ruediger had also fought for the UFC in 2006 after a successful run in WEC but earned one-and-done status after being knocked out with a body shot by Melvin Guillard at UFC 63.

  • Angry Mike says:

Look up the term “sacrificial lamb” in the dictionary and there’s a picture of Ruediger.

  • boomnutz says:

seriously, i think they only gave him that second fight for taking the fight against Lauzon on such short notice

  • fanoftna33 says:

Who is this Megan Fox lady?

  • fanoftna33 says:

I was sure impressed with Taylor in this fight, as he is a very legit striker, he really rocked- and should have got the tko win over- Marcus Davis, and dropped Chris Lytle all at WW. If his grappling was better he would be a complete beast.

  • Louie says:

I pray that the UFC will sign Gabe again, let him lose a few more times and cut him again. His losses and subsequent releases always make me smile.

  • Guthookd says:

I’m so glad you mentioned the body shot KO Brenco. God damn that was beautiful. I remember after that Melvin even disrespected him on the mic a little. Melvin’s a dick, but that was classic. Gabe does make a good sacraficial lamb. I’m with Louie. Bring him back and cut him again.

  • TerribleT says:

GAYbe Ruediger getting cut from the UFC again, what a sad day it is in the world of MMA. GAYbe is an excellent fall guy and he has a knack for being on the receiving end of highlight knockouts and tapouts. He will definitely be missed. Hopefully StrikeFarce picks him up so we can at least see a couple more of his highlight KO’s :-)
