It appears 12-3 welterweight Jason High already has his next fight lined up only a few days removed from outpointing Hayato “Mach” Sakurai on New Year’s Eve at “Dynamite!! Power of Courage”, as Titan Fighting Championships has announced High will have an opportunity to fight in front of his home-town fans on January 28 in Kansas City against another product from the area, 12-6 Bellator veteran Rudy “Bad News” Bears.
“On paper, High vs. Bears has a chance to be the Fight of the Night,” said Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly of the match-up. “Jason is coming off the biggest win of his career and Rudy’s last fight was a brilliant TKO victory over UFC veteran Chad Reiner during a Bellator show. Both Jason and Rudy are going to tear the roof off of Memorial Hall.”
The scheduled bout will mark the fourth time High will have entered the cage in five months with wins in his previous three match-ups including the Sakurai decision and a first round TKO of Keto Allen in October. He also holds a previous victories over respected grappler Andre Galvao and experienced journeyman Kevin Burns.
While Bears may not have High’s profile, the 31-year old is considered to be a well-rounded threat with a 5-5 split between submissions and strike-based wins in his twelve total wins.
Also set for the Titan FC 16 card is a clash between former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia and Ultimate Fighter alumnus Abe Wagner. Drew McFedries and L.C. Davis are also scheduled for action at the event. Fans who aren’t fortunate to be in the area and attend can watch the things unfold live on HDNet.
