WEC veteran L.C. Davis will not be joining the UFC’s featherweight division alongside his promotional peers, as it turns out he was released last month after losing a unanimous decision to Rafael Assuncao at WEC 52. Though Davis started out his WEC career with three straight wins, the November result marked his second consecutive defeat with the other coming to 145-pound title-contender Josh Grispi.
Word of Davis’ release was confirmed by Five Ounces of Pain with sources attached to the situation.
Davis, who started his career off with nine straight wins, has eleven finishing performances to his credit in sixteen total victories. However, he has gone to decision in six of his last seven bouts (two of which were losses). At 16-4 he holds past victories over respected competitors like Javier Vasquez, Bao Quach, and Conor Heun.
