Benji Radach vs. Ovince St. Preux

Round One: Radach got a takedown about a minute in but St. Preux got right back up. St. Preux landed a head kick and a left, sprawled on a weak takedown, took the back, got the hooks in, flattened out Radach and pounded on him for two minutes. Radach didn’t move and did his best to cover up but he was taking a beating and going nowhere. The ref didn’t stop it though and the round ended. 5OZ scores the round 10-9 for St. Preux.

Round Two: St. Preux hurt Radach with the first punch of the round and got the back on the ground again. He didn’t flatten out Radach this time but he did pound on him, especially the body, for pretty much the entire round. The shots weren’t all that damaging but Radach had no answer for the control of St. Preux. I’m not even sure Radach threw a single strike in the round. 5OZ scores the round 10-8 for St. Preux.

Round Three: Radach came out swinging in this round but St. Preux survived, dropped Radach with a left hand, and got the back of Radach again. St. Preux not as busy with his strikes on the ground this time and the ref ended up standing them up, which caused the crowd to cheer. Radach kept trying for takedowns but St. Preux easily stuffed them until the final 20 seconds when Radach finally got a takedown. Too little too late though. 5OZ scores the round 10-9 for St. Preux and the fight 30-26 for St. Preux.

Result: Ovince St. Preux def. Benji Radach via Unanimous Decision

Antonio Silva vs. Mike Kyle

Round One: Kyle dropped Silva early with a right hand, pounced on him on the ground, and pounded on him with hammerfists but Silva managed to survive. Silva tried his best to control Kyle but Kyle was able to do some good damage on top with strikes. Kyle really worked the body of Silva late in the round with punches and elbows. A very dominant round for Kyle. 5OZ scores the round 10-8 for Kyle.

Round Two: Silva got an early takedown and pounded away on Kyle. As Kyle tried to scramble up, Silva caught him in an anaconda choke but Kyle was able to escape. Silva remained on top though where he eventually mounted Kyle and pounded on him until the ref stopped it.

Result: Antonio Silva def. Mike Kyle via TKO Round 2 (Strikes)

Robbie Lawler vs. Matt Lindland

Round One: Some good exchanges early and then Lawler dropped Lindland with a right hook and came down with a heavy right hand on the ground that knocked Lindland out cold.

Result: Robbie Lawler def. Matt Lindland via KO Round 1 (Right Hand)

Paul Daley vs. Scott Smith

Round One: Smith got dropped with a right hand about a minute in but managed to survive and get back up. Daley connected with multiple left hooks and then as Smith tried to fire back, Daley knocked him out cold with a counter left hook.

Result: Paul Daley def. Scott Smith via KO Round 1 (Left Hook)

Dan Henderson vs. Renato Sobral

Round One: Sobral did a nice job keeping the distance early but Henderson clipped him with a left hand, Sobral went for a weak takedown, Henderson stuffed it, ended up on top, postured to his feet, and dropped some big right hands that knocked Sobral out cold.

Result: Dan Henderson def. Rento Sobral via KO Round 1 (Right Hands)

  • Dufresne says:

St. Preux is looking really good. Can’t figure out how many more times he has to punch Radach in the head before the ref stops it.

  • Dufresne says:

That was ridiculous. Radach did nothing but put his hands on the side of his head for 2 minutes while St. Preux slammed him in the side of the head. Evidently “intelligently defending yourself” is different in that ref’s world.

  • Dufresne says:

Two straight rounds where St. Preux tired himself out punching Radach in the head. Not as dominant as the 1st, but I still can’t believe the ref hasn’t stopped this fight by now.

  • Dufresne says:

Well at least this round Radach threw a punch. Too bad he’s back to the turtle getting punched again…

  • Dufresne says:

This fight should have been stopped in the 1st round, but because it wasn’t we got a relatively boring fight.
Third round probably went to Radach mostly because he layed against St. Preux for over 3 minutes of the fight and got a takedown at the very end of the round. But St. Preux should still walk away with the win.

  • Dufresne says:

WTF??? Why did they switch to an interview right before the judges decision?

  • Dufresne says:

    Holy shit Kyle!!!

Man Bigfoot can take a hell of a punch…

  • Dufresne says:

What a comeback! Silva knocked him out cold with some vicious GnP!

  • Dufresne says:

HOLY SHIT! Lawler with the nasty KO!!!!!

  • Dufresne says:

Good job by Lawler for not throwing any unnecessary punches. Lindland is still down though. Considering how long he was out after the Vitor fight and how long he’s out here, he may need to hang it up. I’m seriously getting concerned for his health.

  • Dufresne says:

Smith is hurt, but man what a chin.

  • Dufresne says:

Goodnight Smith!!! What a hook by Semtex!!!

  • Dufresne says:

Henderson via KO!!!! Holy shit what a night of knockouts!!!!

  • elsicilian says:

Awesome fights! Much better than what I expect from Strikeforce …

  • Dufresne says:

That was a fantastic card with some incredible finishes.

The only real negative was listening to the commentator try to name Henderson’s right hand the “H-Bomb” repeatedly.

  • fanoftna33 says:

dufrense I completly agree about OSP vs Benji, how many punches does he have to hit him with to get it stopped it is called intelligently defending yourself and Benji wasnt doing it.
Kyle did well for coming in on almost zero notice and Bigfoot may have seen his stock drop quite a bit.
Lindland and Smith WTF are you two doing striking with thoes guys, dammit at least try for a damm takedown.
Hendo looked good, sorry to see all the momentium from beating Lawler go away for Babalu.

  • Rece Rock says:

Well I’ll eat crow and simply state SF had the better card last night and I’m glad there was some exciting mma on tv last night… I’ll have to think twice when dvr’n events…

  • qat says:

really nice event, great knockouts, and hendo looked fresh again.

i was disappointed by bigfoot though, ok he survived the 1st round, but then again he fought a 50 pound lighter substitute in mike kyle. imagine him in there with overeem, fedor or even rogers.
and if you think about it, what exactly did he do in the hw division? he decisioned an arlovski whose mojo got shot into space by fedor 2 years ago, and lost a decision to werdum.
somehow i cant really see him go much further at the moment.
