Herschel Walker injured, withdraws from December 4th Strikeforce event

Football great Herschel Walker has been forced to pull out of his booked bout against 4-1 Scott Carson on December 4th at “Strikeforce – Henderson vs. Babalu”. According to a press release from the organization, Walker sustained a significant gash under his left eye while training with teammate Daniel Cormier at American Kickboxing Acdemy ultimately requiring stitches to repair.

“I feel terrible about this,’’ said Walker on the situation. “I know things like this happen in all sports, but I had trained very hard and was excited to be returning to the cage again. I hope to fight again as soon as the cut heals.”

Strikeforce is expected to announce a replacement for Walker in the coming days.

Still scheduled for the St. Louis event, headlining former champions Dan Henderson and Renato “Babalu” Sobral ace off to determine the organization’s top light heavyweight contender, stand-up savvy Paul Daley and Scott Smith are set exchange blows, and striker Robbie Lawler will test his hard-hitting style against renowned grappler Matt Lindland.

Hopefully a career fighter will get a spot on the main card… As usual SF barely promoted the event and this is a hit to the draw but he shouldn’t have been there to begin with, SF should contact frank shamrock and see if he wants to fight a bully in the co mainevent
