Daniel Cormier likely headliner at January Strikeforce event

Undefeated heavyweight Daniel Cormier has quietly become one of MMA’s hottest prospects after having transitioned a brilliant amateur wrestling career into a 6-0 record in Mixed Martial Arts with the entire lot of victories coming by way of a finishing performance.

Five Ounces of Pain has learned Cormier, who is 3-0 in the promotion, will attempt a seventh straight win in the ring at an upcoming Strikeforce Challengers event on January 7, though the exact location of the show has not been confirmed yet. In terms of who he will face, Strikeforce is still in the process of scouting potential adversaries for the 31-year former Olympian with an official announcement expected soon.

The American Kickboxing Academy teammate of UFC champ, and undefeated heavyweight peer, Cain Velasquez has rendered his last five opponents unable to compete within the respective bout’s opening frame. He competed as recently as two weeks ago, while only having been a professional fighter for about fourteen months, and has finished the bulk of his foes by way of strikes with only a single submission to his credit.

He’s the real deal just hope he doesn’t get buried in the madness that is SF.

This guy has to get out of SF as soon as possible and get in the UFC-I know that him and Velasquez probably won’t fight eachother but he still could have more exposure and better quality opponents to fight more often
