Amarillo, TX. – July 26, 2010- It was formally announced today that UFC veteran, Paul “Semtex” Daley, has signed a one-fight deal with Shark Fight Promotions, a fast-rising fight promotion company based out of Amarillo, Texas. It has been confirmed that Daley will fight on the Shark Fights 13 card in September. Daley’s opponent is yet to be determined and will be announced in the coming weeks.

Medley went on to say, “We are currently in the process of choosing Daley’s opponent. Several marquee fighters are being considered and a decision will be made very soon. This is shaping up to be an incredible card! Numerous A-list fighters have been confirmed for the Shark Fights 13 roster.”

Paul Daley (24-9-2) recently defeated Daniel Acacio via submission at Impact FC 2 – The Uprising in Sydney, Australia, and was riding a four -fight win streak prior to his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 113. Daley has fought for many notable organizations throughout his career, including EliteXC, Strikeforce, Maximum Fighting Championship, Pancrase and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is also ranked #7 in the world in the welterweight division according to This will be Daley’s first fight in the United States, following his highly publicized departure from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Daley had this to say, “I’m very excited to be fighting in the U.S. again. Despite my conduct during the Koscheck fight, which I agree is inexcusable; fans in the United States have been very supportive. For that I am very grateful.”

Daley goes on to say that he will do whatever it takes to make amends, “I can’t undo what has already been done, but I’m determined to prove to everyone that the fighter they saw at UFC 113 is not who I am. I am better than that and the fans deserve better than that. I plan to do whatever it takes to earn back their respect and the respect of everyone in the industry. I’m genuinely looking forward to fighting back in the U.S., on what I feel is one of the most impressive fight cards that has been pulled together in quite some time.”

Paul Daley is just one of many A-list competitors that have been confirmed for Shark Fights 13. The impressive roster includes Keith Jardine, Trevor Prangley, Rameau Sokoudjou, Houston Alexander, Drew McFedries and Joey Villasenor. It’s definitely looking like an impressive card, although I wouldn’t quite say it’s full of A-listers. There are some big names on the card but not many world beaters. Daley is the only one cracking the top ten in their division.

I’d like to see him up against Dan Hornbuckle if they can make that happen or see if he can avenge his loss to Nick Thompson. There really aren’t a ton of great WW out there not signed by the UFC that could be competitive with Daley. Maybe Karo.

  • Dufresne says:

Daley is pretty talented, but until he tightens up that ground game, I can’t consider him top 10. He has looked like a fish out of water when he’s on his back and that’s not gonna cut it when he’s in there with another top WW.

I am glad that he’s getting work, he’s too talented to just sweep into the dustbin and has enough of a name that his signing with smaller promotions helps bring them some attention.

MCM, I would love to see him in there with “The Goat” again. For some reason Thompson is one of those fighters I really enjoy watching.

  • Angry Mike says:

I’m no fan of Daley, but booting him out of the UFC was overkill. Koscheck is no saint, and it was pretty clear he was trash-talking during the fight. Daley was just too young and dumb to maintain his composure.

  • MMA-LOGIC says:

    Houston Alexander is A-list?.

I guess he’s “A-list” in MMA like Megan Fox is “A-list” in acting. Not the most talented, but fun to watch and brings viewers nonetheless.

Considering this is sharkfight the line up is impressive…Even if it’s based upon name recognition. I have to say I wouldn’t mind catching this show if it was in my region.
