“UFC on Versus 2” moved from Salt Lake City to San Diego due to poor ticket sales

According to a recent press release from The Ultimate Fighting Championship, “UFC on Versus 2” will be moved to San Diego, California.

UFC President Dana White has cited poor ticket sales as the reason behind the recently reported venue switch.

The event was originally scheduled to take place at The EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The event is scheduled to be headlined by a light heavyweight battle between Jon “Bones” Jones and Vladimir Matyushenko in the main event. Other fights scheduled include a battle between middleweight stars Yushin Okami and Mark Munoz, the return of Takanori Gomi against Joe Stevenson, and a bout between welterweight prospects John Howard and Jake Ellenberger.

“UFC on Versus 2” takes place on August 1, and will air on Versus.

  • That is a suprize. this is not a bad card by any stretch. bones is a exciting young contender and the other guys are simply worth watching live without a doubt.

Salt Lake just needs a some time to come around which is perfectly fine. Bring the UFC to Everett Washington Comcast arena, it can hold 14 thousand easy. Strikeforce is in Everett next month on the
23rd. I’ll be there and would at a UFC if you guys schedule it.

I don’t remember the UFC ever changing venues like this before, does anyone else?
I can’t really see why ticket sales were low enough to make this move, this card looks pretty entertaining to me. Unless the prices were too steep, the only other reason that I can see for Salt Lake City not coming out in force would be the relatively conservative religious views of a large percentage of the city. Not saying there is anything wrong with those views, just trying to find a logical reason for this.

Good luck getting a card anytime soon again Salt lake city… NYC would go bizerk for a live MMA event.
