Stefan Struve vs. Christian Morecraft booked for UFC 117

Stefan Struve will be returning to the UFC for the sixth time at UFC 117 when he faces off with Octagon newcomer Christian Morecraft.

The news of Morecraft’s signing with the UFC and pairing with Struve at UFC 117 comes courtesy of a recent report at MMAJunkie.com.

Struve will be looking to jump back into the win column following a disappointing first round TKO defeat suffered at the plus-sized hands of Roy “Big Country” Nelson in March. The 6’11” “Skyscraper” boasts a career record of 19-4 and a UFC record of 3-2 with notable victories over the likes of Paul Buentello and Chase Gormley on his resume.

The 23-year-old Morecraft has racked up an undefeated record of 6-0 outside of the UFC. Even more impressive than the unblemished record, the massive 6’5″ 265 lb. Massachusetts based heavyweight has finished every one of his opponents in the opening round.

UFC 117 is expected to take place from Oakland, California on August 7 while featuring a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.

Hope he learned something from that Roy onslaught….Seems like his opponent comes out guns blazing, should be interesting.

Looks like they’re using Struve as a stepping stone at this point. Oah well…..with every fight they give him he has an opportunity. I hope the fight is evenly matched.

Never heard of Morecraft before; he sounds like a monsterously large dude.

I like Struve and can see him being a very large, pardon the pun, threat in the future. Hopefully the ufc allows him to develop into the beast he will eventually be.

Morecraft is listed on Sh*dog as 6’8″ 260lbs. Struve may actually look like the smaller fighter in this one. This should be a good fight as Morecraft has finished everyone of his oppents with a mix of KO’s and Subs….kinda like Skyscraper. I’m gonna lean toward Struve just because he’s a known commodity.
