UFC Fight Night 22 scheduled for Sept. 15, Jim Miller vs. Gleison Tibau rumored

Keeping close to custom, the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter – featuring a group of lightweight up-and-comers – will be prefaced by a UFC Fight Night.

MMAjunkie.com first reported that UFC Fight Night 22, featuring a lightweight matchup between Jim Miller and Gleison Tibau, will lead into the first episode of the thriving reality show. Taking place on September 15, no venue or city has been announced. Miller vs. Tibau is, as of now, the only rumored bout on the card.

Miller rides a four-fight win streak into the octagon, having dropped a unanimous decision to oft-overlooked contender Gray Maynard back in March, 2009. Tibau, who is 7-4 in the UFC, fights behind a two-fight win streak, having defeated Josh Neer and Caol Uno in his last fights. The featured bout could have contender-status implications, as both men have lost only to the best of the UFC’s lightweight division.

Stay tuned as the fight card for UFC Fight Night 22 fills out and more matchups are announced.

  • Tibau is a monster LW, but gas tank is definitely suspect at LW.

  • Rece Rock says:

Wonder why the UFC chose to do TUF 12 as LW?
There’s so many LW’s btn UFC & WEC already in the mix…?

September 15th….Jesus. Might as well be 2 years from now.

I want some free MMA and I want it now!!!!

@ Reece Rock… The more the marrier! Plus the TUF guys usually take awhile before really becoming a factor. TUF5 LWs are barely coming around now. @ Guthookd…Couldn’t agree with you more. I like Miller in this one! I can’t even pinpoint why, but I can’t stand Tibau! maybe because he’s a “decision winner”… Hate those guys! So what he KO’d Uno…

This is a pretty good fight. It really decides where each fighter goes in the division though, a loss puts the fighter way back in the prelims and a win brings some cool fights.

  • These TUF seasons aren’t annual anymore are they? They seem to have 2 seasons a year…or am I just delusional?
