UFC releases Jason High

It appears as though welterweight Jason High has been cut by the UFC after losing his first and only bout in the organization this past March.

News of the release came earlier today on the fighter’s Twitter account.

“Received my UFC walking papers today, one door closes another opens….you know how the saying goes.”

High’s unanimous decision loss to Charlie Brenneman at Fight Night 21 was his second consecutive defeat and brought his overall record to 9-3. “The Kansas City Bandit” has dropped three of his last five bouts after winning seven straight to start off his professional career.

  • Kuch says:

I haven’t seen or heard anything about this fight. Was it even entertaining?

    Jason Who?

  • Rece Rock says:

With that last name you think he would be a little bit more creative with the fighter nick name??

  • Pretty disappointed by this because 1) he’s an internet-favorite and a likable guy and 2) one loss shouldn’t earn you your walking papers. Hell, even Leites got another chance after UFC 97.

  • Angry Mike says:

The guy needs to reinvent himself. Move to Denver and train at altitude. And the best part is that he can call himself (get ready) Jason “Rocky Mountain” High (to get the full effect you gotta use your best Bruce Buffer voice).

Thank you, thank you very much. I’ll be here all week. Try the prime rib.
