I don’t get it. Nate Marquardt knocks out Damien Maia and comes extremely close to chocking out the lay and pray republican Sonnen and Maia is fighting for the title? I’m extremely confused.
It’d be fair enough if Nate was injured but he’s not.
    Extremely frustrating for Marquardt fans.
    Wrong call U.F.C.
You thought the Marquardt knock out was fast…..wait until Silva gets in there with Maia.

don’t forget how quickly Maia submitted the gayforpay republican sonnen. Maia made as short of work of sonnen, as marquardt made of Maia, however sonnen grinded marquardt out. but the. sonnen took too much damage, so MMAmath says that Maia fights next

You just cant pull a Strikeforce and have someone who’s coming off of a loss challenge for the title. The fight must go on and Maia was the best possible choice. Im excited to see a A.Silva vs Wanderlei or Vitor in the future, although I really dont see anyone beating Silva anytime soon

lol mmath is about the most unreliable type of math there is. I think it came down to the fact that they’re fighting in Abu Dhabi, where jiu jitsu is insanely popular. Having one of the most successful ADCC champions fighting for the title is great for business. That’s also why they’re hyping Renzo Gracie up so much even though he hasn’t been relevant for years. Even if he’s old as hell, he is still one of the pioneers of jiu jitsu around the world.

I agree that both Marquardt and Maia could make equal claims to who is more deserving, but I can guarantee that Maia sells more tickets than Marquardt in Abu Dhabi; which is all Dana needs.
