Fighter pairings for Bellator’s featherweight (145 lbs.) and welterweight (170 lbs.) tournaments have already been announced. Matchups for the middleweight (185 lbs.) tournament will be announced later this month.

The lightweight (155 lbs.) matchups are as follows:

April 8th (Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Hollywood, Fla.)

Roger Huerta (20-3-1) vs. Chad Hinton (6-0)

and

Janne Tulirinta (12-3) vs. Carey Vanier (7-2)

April 15th (Chicago Theatre – Chicago, Ill.)

Pat Curran (9-3) vs. Mike Ricci (5-0)

April 22nd (Mohegan Sun Resort – Uncasville, Conn.)

Toby Imada (20-13) vs. Ferrid Kheder (16-5)

Each of the fights will be broadcast live in prime time on FOX Sports Net. Highlights will be shown the following Saturday night in special action-packed shows on NBC and Telemundo.

“As an MMA fan, I can’t wait to see these fights,” said Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “There’s been great buzz about our 155 division and it’s definitely warranted. This is a very well-rounded field and each of these fighters is very dangerous.”

Wish they’d do March Madness style brackets for these things. They’re already pretty exciting, but it’d be even more fun with some fan-fan competition. Winner gets a t-shirt or something small like that.

Dufresne, forgive but i dont get what you mean, maybe its a US thing, but can you elaborate.

Also gotta say, much as i like Roger Huerta an enjoy watching him fight, i dont see him winning this tournament. In fact i’m going for Finland on this one

Good call putting Roger on the first card…their best known fighter. He will attract some attention, win or loose.

The only thing is…I hope he’s in good shape. April 8th is not far off. I hope he had some advanced notice.

March Madness is what they call the college basketball tournament here. It’s a one and done kinda deal so everyone fills out brackets at the very beginning on who they think will win each match-up, and for all the matchups that will make for each following round all the way to the final. There’s 64 teams so it’s damn near impossible for anyone to get all the picks right with all of the upsets possible. A lot of companies do a bracket challenge with the winner getting a prize. ESPN’s prize is like $1,000,000.
