Ryan Bader, C.B. Dollaway & Aaron Simpson leave Arizona Combat Sports

Arizona Combat Sports; Aaron Simpson, Trevor Lally, CB Dollaway and Ryan Bader

Fellow ASU wrestling alumnis and current UFC contenders, Ryan Bader, C.B. Dollaway and Aaron Simpson, have parted ways with their longtime fight team, Arizona Combat Sports.

FiveOuncesofPain.com has been able to confirm the news through sources close to the situation after it was initially reported by MMA Madness.

All three fighters got their start in mixed martial arts with the Tempe, Arizona based gym following decorated wrestling careers at Arizona State University.

The news comes at an unlikely time as all three fighters are coming off of big wins, with Bader recently defeating Keith Jardine, Dollaway besting Goran Reljic, and Simpson gritting out Tom Lawlor.

ACS will continue to be the training grounds for former WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner.

There is no news currently available as to where the three UFC vets will call their home in the future, but 5 Oz. has learned that several of the best gyms in the business have expressed interest.

Stay tuned to FiveOuncesofPain.com as we continue to keep you up to date on this developing story.

Tough blow for ACS. Those were easily their 3 top fighters, who helped give ACS the best year it’s had last year. I wonder what the reasoning was?

I don’t think it will be much of a blow to either side at this point though. Simpson, Dolloway, and Bader have probably already learned about as much as they can there. With the obvious focus on wrestling, it might just benefit them to go to a camp that focuses more on striking or jiu-jitsu. Thompkins or Dellagrotte would be awesome for these guys.

On the flip side, ACS has already proven an extremely legit camp. They single handedly took guys with no name power to them like these 3, and now people are talking about all 3 of them being contenders some point soon. People are learning how important a wrestling base can be and I can only see both groups going forward from here in a positive way.

LOL, I just completely contradicted myself with the first sentences in the first 2 paragraphs. I meant it SEEMS like a tough blow to ACS in the first sentence. The other parts were why I thought it wouldn’t be that bad as all the framework was already set on either side so they don’t need eachother anymore.

To totally ignore Gustavo dantas BJJ at az combat is crazy. The lally’s know they owed aaron simpson part ownership of that gym because he s the reason why asu wrestlers come there.

Bader especially needs to work with a top tier striking coach. He has impressive power, but he was swinging wildly to the point of being off balance in his fight with Jardine. That’s a prescription for a nap.

CB Dollaway is annoying… Somebody crack that guy.
