Ben Rothwell and Elvis Sinosic out of UFC 110

According to a recent report from the official UFC website, both Ben Rothwell and Elvis Sinosic will not compete this Saturday at UFC 110 in Australia.

Sinosic dropped out of a rematch with Chris Haseman due to a shoulder injury, while Rothwell was scheduled to face off against former PRIDE Superstar Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, but an undisclosed illness forced him to drop out of the fight.

Stepping in for Rothwell will be Anthony Perosh, a veteran Australian fighter who competed in the UFC before. He currently holds an 0-2 UFC record, having lost to Jeff Monson at UFC 61 Christian Wellisch at UFC 66. Perosh has a 10—5 record and will only have a few days notice to face the legendary Croatian.

No word yet on whether Haseman will fight on the card against a new opponent.

It looks like the Injury Curse continues.

how does anyone get sick and injured 2 days prior???

  • thunder okami says:

seriously, arent they supposed to be in the resting and settling down period at this time?

Way to hand Mirko a lifeline. Perosh gets cleaned up no matter how you play this.

What a disappointment for chris though. It was a rematch many of us aussies were waiting to see and to get it in the UFC (which, lets be honest, it really shouldn’t have made the undercard for any UFC event) was a bonus.

Elvis, stick to running your gyms mate.

I think Rothwell got food poisoning. He had a couple dozen cheeseburgers for an afternoon snack yesterday, and one of them was bad.

    lmao

Mirko gets to stay in the UFC!!!! I did’nt know if he’d win his Rothwell fight but this is a MUST win. Hey now Mirko gets a win on another respectable fighter. First Eddie Sanchez, then Mustapha All Turk, and now Anthony Perosh. Wow Mirko is tearing up those top ranked UFC compeditors.

    Mirko hasn’t won yet..

  • Matthew says:

Anthony Perosh loses this fight regardless. Mirko smashes his stand-up on his worst day and if they go to the ground he could fall asleep and Anthony won’t submit him. And also take into account the glimmer in Mirko’s eyes when he gave his interviews about his fight with Rothwell. If he’s ready and excited about fighting Rothwell, he takes Perosh with his eyes closed and one arm tied behind his back. This one ends early and painfully for Perosh.

I know what to say, suck it up Ben, this is your job, no calling in sick unless your in the hospital or contagious.

  • STM199 says:

Douche Bag! Rothwell is a joke anyway

I’m an Aussie so I hate myself for saying this….”Too many shrimps on the barbie Ben?”

  • Rece Rock says:

At least the co-main event has held up…

hopefully the rest of the fighters are in solitude and not rolling hard or eating at some Aborigine food wagon in the australian outback.

gutted about both of these. could be Elvis last oppurtunity for the UFC giving his age, and i was looking forward to the Rothwell/Cro Cop match.
Just once, i wanna see a UFC card go ahead with out any injuries and lackluster replacement fights.
