This the next guy to pay attention like Bones he the future of that division

  • thunder okami says:

Mr. Wonderful is a BEAST! i LOVE seeing new talent. Bones and Davis will do for MMA what Rampage failed to.

  • KTru says:

beating Brian “I have no clue what to do on the ground” Stann does not make you a world beater.

Davis is still young and let him develop. He will need to learn how to finish opponents and not be thrown in the discussion of the “typical” wrestler.
The scary thing is that Gustafsson has bigger upside

  • Rece Rock says:

Do the fighters get barrells of oil for FOTN honors?

  • Lethal Liquid says:

No one is saying Davis is ready for a title shot anytime soon. But he has all the tools to be champ in that weight class provided he has the right camp and work ethic.

  • Makington says:

Although I do agree that Phil Davis showed some freakish athleticism, he doesn’t have that factor that immediately showed to me in Bones Jones. You see a guy like Jones who is a natural wrestler, that’s all he did with his martial arts background. He then comes in and absolutely picks people apart on the feet after learning MMA for about a year. He does moves perfectly that are so hard and strange to pull off that people don’t even try them. Bones is just a natural fighter. He wasn’t as physically gifted as some athletes, but you’d never know he was still such a newcomer to the sport the way he bullies around veteran fighters like Hamill and Bonnar.

Phil Davis kind of reminds me of Rashad when he just popped up. A young aggressive powerful wrestler who hasn’t shown any stand-up or killer instinct yet. He definitely has the ability to, also like Rashad, develop into one of the best but I’ll put my money on Jon Jones so far as he has shown every tool that makes someone great right from the start.
