“The Mexicutioner” steps up to face Rolles Gracie at UFC 109

With Mostapha Al Turk reportedly having visa issues, the UFC has apparently found a replacement for the British fighter for Saturday’s UFC 109 event against Rolles Gracie.

In a report from MMAJunkie.com, UFC newcomer Joey Beltran, is likely to replace Al Turk. Although waiting on final word from Al Turks camp, Beltran is heading to Las Vegas tomorrow which hosts Saturday’s event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran has won six of his last seven fights, with all six coming by way of TKO. He holds wins over UFC veterans Sherman Pendergarst, and most recently, Houston Alexander, which he won by second round TKO in January. He will be taking this fight on just five days notice, with his last fight just being three weeks ago.

Gracie, from the famed Gracie clan, made his pro debut in 2007. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt defeated Sam Holloway via submission while fighting in the International Fight League. He wouldn’t fight again for nearly two years, when he returned in 2009 and moved his record to 3-0 with a pair of submission victories.

UFC 109 is set to air live on pay-per-view this Saturday, from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Rolles Gracie takes this via 1st sub

This guy is supposed to be a TKO/KO guy, but something tells me Rolles has faced harder hitters with better takedown defence. I’m agreeing with xtreme_machine with the 1st round sub. I think he sets it up with a leg kick.

I hear Wes Sims is availible LOL.

Roger? which of the 2 has shown more potential?.

Rolles is the older brother of Roger by 3 years, 1978 and 1981. Both are very decorated in Jiu Jitsu competition with Rolles doing Judo as well. Both have looked very good in MMA all though neither have fought a name.. Ok ..Roger fought Yuki Kondo. Either would have been good to have in the UFC IMO..both are 2nd degree Black Belts in Jitsu.

The mexicutioner at 6′ 2 230(no muscle)and a knock a machine with 1 loss by submission via Kimura by Toney Lopez who was on Bully Beatdown. 2 losses by unanimous with 1 of those going the distance again Lopez in the second fight. Tony didn’t look all that impressive on Bully Beatdown yet got this guy in a Kimura and won the second by unanimous. To get someone in a Kimura you have to have total control of the guy. Hmm…It’s hard to bet against a good striker and its even harder to bet against a 2nd degree Black Belt from the Gracie Family. I agree with the posts above. 1st or 2nd round sub by Rolles.
