Pieces in place to establish clear cut female ruler at 135 pounds with Kaufman vs. Hashi

Undefeated fighter Sarah Kaufman will put her perfect record on the line at ”Strikeforce Challengers VI” on February 26th against 12-1 grappler Takayo Hashi in hopes of becoming the promotion’s first 135-pound female champion.

The hard-hitting Canadian broke the news to fans on Twitter earlier today.

Kaufman most recently scored decision-wins over Shayna Baszler and Miesha Tate in Strikeforce after racking up eight consecutive knockouts before entering the organization. Hashi will be making her Strikeforce debut at the event but is currently riding an eight-fight win streak.

It is currently expected that the last woman standing in Freestyle Cage Fighting‘s 135-pound tournament set for January 30th in Oklahoma will serve as the first challenger to whomever emerges victorious in the scrap.

Below is a full list of the tournament bouts set for FCF 39:

Adrienna Jenkins vs. Sarah Schneider
Jan Finney vs. Liz Carreiro
Kaitlin Young vs. Jennifer Tate
Megumi Yabushita vs. Shayna Baszler

Kaufman is a real heavy hitter at 135 with pretty good technical boxing.

I’d really like to see Kaitlin Young in SF. She fought way above her weight class against Gina in EliteXC, but if you watch some of her fights on YouTube she’s got some pretty vicious Muay Thai.

Overall, it’s cool to see SF making a real effort to create a credible women’s division.

This is a great thing for womans mma, with SF giving them the opportunity to show us how exciting they are. I cant wait for thier tournament coming up. Kaufman really has been impressive but i havnt seen Hashi fight yet, but SF always seems to have some really exciting womans fights.

  • xtreme_machine says:

Happy to see the womans mma growing

Somehow the girls always step up and steal the show

hopefully they can do it again and maybe Kerry Vera can face the winner
