UFC 108 Weigh In Results: Daley vs. Hazelett changed to catchweight (UPDATED)

The weigh-ins for UFC:108 Evans vs. Silva took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas this evening. The live feed of the weigh-in was available on FiveOuncesofPain.com and should be able to be viewed via replay shortly after the conclusion of the event.

UFC:108 has seen the loss of 9 fights, and today’s weigh-ins  wasn’t without  issue as  Co-headline participant Paul Daley failed to make weight on his first try.  Daley tipped the scales at 172 pounds,  1 pound over the limit for his bout with Dustin Hazelett.  Daley will have 2 hours to lose the pound.***

Tomorrow’s event will feature two fights on Spike TV starting at 9pm, and the Main Card PPV broadcast starts at 10pm ET.

Main event:

Rashad Evans (205) vs. Thiago Silva (205)
Paul Daley (172*) vs. Dustin Hazelett (168)
Joe Lauzon (155) vs. Sam Stout (155)
Duane Ludwig (156) vs. Jim Miller (155)
Junior Dos Santos (237) vs. Gilbert Yvel (239)

SpikeTV Prelims 9pm ET
Cole Miller (155) vs. Dan Lauzon (155)
Martin Kampmann (171) vs. Jacob Volkmann (171)

Undercard ( un-aired)
Mark Munoz (185) vs. Ryan Jensen (186)
Mike Pyle (171) vs. Jake Ellenberger (170)
Rafael Oliveira (156) vs. John Gunderson (155)

***Paul Daley was not allowed to attempt a weight cut of the final pound.  NSAC officials would not allow it due to heath concerns.  The fight will now be contested at 172 pounds  with  10 percent of Daley’s purse going to Hazelett. ( credit  MMAJunkie.com)

  • I am most interested in Dan Lauzon vs Cole Miller. Miller is no joke in the UFC and Dan is still
hasn’t fought any names besides Spencer Fisher. Throwing the young fighter to the wolves again.

C’mon, Daley! It isn’t the first time you miss weight. :(

  • onebaldegg says:

if hazlett takes him down, it is over. this kid takes it in round 1via quick submission. EARLY! just my prediction. Daley is not all that and Hazlett has improved leaps and bounds every fight!

Just watched the build up and Roegan referred to Yvel as a top pride HW. He fought 8 times in Pride for a 6-2 record, with only 1 HW win over Big Daddy. He lost to Belfort, Horn, Fujita and Minowa to name a few. With a HW division that had Werdum, Barnett, Nog, Crocop, Vovchanchyn, Fedor, Aleks, Fujita, Herring, Coleman, Fryre, Hunt, Kharitonov etc he was the nearly the bottom of the pile along with Goodridge and Thomson. They also just assumed and implied it was going to be a stand up war with “two guys just firing from their heels” between Santos and Yvel. If it is a stand up fight it will be the most stupid game plan I have ever seen. Dos Santos is far superior on the ground and Yvel is all but harmless off his feet. The only reasons it will be a stand up fight is if they are influenced directly or indirectly or if pride gets to Dos Santos. I mean you take him off his feet you are just about assured a win if not you are in a lot of danger against a guy who has victories over Schilt, Kongo and Rizzo on his feet and has lost to guys with pretty bad ground games like Vovchanchyn on the ground.

Pretty ave card all round. I would expect Evans to dominate Silva on the ground and the rest of the fights I am interested in the result but not all that interested in watching.

  • Wonder if Daleys scale was off? He doesnt generally miss weight and he looked shocked when he was over. Usually fighters know they are going to be over.

  • OMNIpotus says:

10% is a pittance for how much of an advantage it gives a fighter. If you go back and look, I’m willing to bet that 9 out of 10 times the guy who was over-weight won the fight. I wonder if that 10% given to the other guy is worth the loss.

  • Angry Mike says:

Now I really dislike Daley. It’s bad enough that he’s a mouth, but now he doesn’t make weight? What a wanker. I hope Hazelett goes Aoki on one of his arms.

  • baldguy80 says:

Hazelett is too much a gentleman to spout like Aoki, but like you Angry Mike, I really, really, really hope Dustin goes home with yet another “Submission of the Night”..

Surely you’re joking. Didn’t he miss weight by 6 or 8 pounds against Allessio at MFC and simply refuse to try and cut??

    Yeah that was him.

  • BigDave says:

Dailey has missed weight before you think he would learn by now. yet another reason to not like this guy. They should take half his purse and exclude him from taking home any hounrs from the fight. Hazzlett by first round submission.

I wish I could have the 20 seconds back of my life it took to read that mess.

    Miller is a joke,
Escudero who has never KO’d someone, nearly knocked his head off into the cheap seats

  • Guthookd says:

Miller is not a joke. He’s young and full of potential. Don’t bash the dude, damn.
