Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez set for WEC 47

torresFormer WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres will be making his first return to the cage since suffering a crushing knockout defeat at the hands of Brian Bowles when he faces off with Joseph Benavidez at WEC 47.

The possible match-up was first reported by MMAMania.com and has since been confirmed through multiple outlets.

It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Torres facing off with the winner of the recent bout between Benavidez and Rani Yahya when the former title holder sat in for the commentary portion of the WEC 45 bout between the two.

Benavidez will be coming back from his recent first round knockout destruction of Yahya, while Torres will be looking to bounce back from the knockout loss to Bowles.

The winner of this match-up will likely be the front runner to face off with the winner of Bowles vs. Dominic Cruz for the WEC 135 pound title.

i think torres is going to show why he went for years without a defeat he just got too overconfident in the bowles fight and got caught if he would of been patient he would of finished bowles

Benavidez is without a doubt a top 10, maybe top 5 bantamweight, but I don’t think he is on the level of Miguel Torres. Not just yet anyway. Miguel comes back and makes a big statement and reminds the world why he is one of the best P4P fighters in the world
