Shinya Aoki snaps Mizuto Hirota’s arm with grotesque submission at “Dynamite!! 2009”

shinya aokiIn easily one of the most hard to watch submissions in the history of the game, DREAM lightweight champion Shinya Aoki managed to twist and snap the arm of Sengoku lightweight champion Mizuto Hirota with an unorthodox arm lock during “Dynamite!! 2009“.

The two faced off as part of the event that took place from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, and aired live on HDNet.

Aoki scored a takedown early on in the opening round and quickly managed to pin Hirota’s right arm behind his back while the “The Tobikan Judan” reeled off a succession of punches. Mizuto began to try to roll out of the maneuver but was trapped on the canvas where his arm was quickly twisted and ripped out of the socket, giving Aoki the technical submission victory due to the lack of a tap out from the mangled Sengoku title holder.

In an extremely poor and uncharacteristic display of sportsmanship, Aoki took a page out of Brock Lesnar’s book following the stoppage, giving his fallen opponent the middle finger as he moaned in agony and running around the ring mocking the fact that his foe had his arm broken.

Aoki is expected to make his Strikeforce debut in early 2010, possibly against the promotion’s lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez.

  • OMG….that was gruesome but thats why you tap out. Now as far as his behavior, dont talk trash while a man is forcing your arm out of socket.

I cant wait to see this guy get done with SF so he could get into some intricate subs with BJ…..BJ just might KO him first though.

I don’t think I’ve ever had so many involuntary reactions at one time..

I gagged, moaned, covered my eyes and reached for the remote in like a second flat

  • Rece Rock says:

about as grotesque as those dam pants….HaHa… still think BJ would fair well against this guy.

My Sensei always told us when it comes to submissions “don’t be a hero or your going to be broken.” That was one of the sickest submissions I’ve ever seen in my life. This kid is something to watch for in the near future. I don’t think that Strike Force is going to be able to put anyone in his path that can beat him. Let him clear out the division then bring on Baby Jay.

so where was the break? or was it the shoulder that popped?
fuck i have to wait and download this tomorrow at some point, gutted

there was now way for hirota to tap. aoki was mangling hirota’s right arm and had his left arm trapped.

Dam that was a nasty dislocation for sure, cant wait to see what he does against Melandez?

  • Rece Rock says:

whatever he does against melendez he better keep his persona in check…MMA is on the rise in the states we don’t need any unsportsman like antics setting the progress backwards when his after fight BS shows up on sports news and ppl whom aren’t fans or even opponents to mma will just shake their heads and think yea this is what this is all about huh…..

Looked like the elbow popped right out of joint. The guys entire forearm was hanging limp.

  • Guthookd says:

Wow. That was the second elbow I’ve seen Shinya snap.

It was unfortunate that his emotions got away with him after what was one of the most convincing wins of 2009..a win that will surely will call for a revision of Five Ounce’s submission of the year…..

  • David Andrest says:

It’s not just the elbow, I think he rotated the entire shoulder 360 as well. When the arm gave way, it just gave way.

  • Johnnybigone says:

I’m pretty sure theres not a break involved, his arm just got brought from behind him to back in front in the wrong direction.. Ouch..
