Carlos Condit out of UFC 108

At some point UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has got to be praying for the end of 2009. Carlos Condit  who was scheduled to fight Paul Daley at UFC 108 has withdrawn from the contest. Sources have indicated Condit has suffered a hand injury. The cancellation of the fight is yet another in a long line of injuries that have plagued Zuffa in the final quarter of 2009.

MMAUnltd first reported the story earlier today, and since it has been confirmed by multiple sources.

No replacement for Condit has been named yet, however Daley has gone on record stating that he is still looking to participate on the card.

This would have been a great fight, its to bad Condit got hurt but hopefully they come up with somebody worthwhile for Daley. Maybe Alves will be ready by then.

Dammit!! Once again 108 gets the same curse 98 had

Alves vs. Daley would be CRAZY though!

i wanna see hardy and daley fight, i know they’re boys and all, but i know them well enough to be pretty sure they would jump at the chance to fight each other. none of this shit like aka or silva/machida not fighting each other cos they get to check out each others willys in the shower. fuck them, lets get Paul and Dan to show them how we get down

  • Scott H. says:

It’s pretty short notice to be finding someone…

Mike Swike or Chris Lytle are guy’s that jump to mind as being a good match up.

Another name to consider is Dustin Hazzlenet, who didn’t get to fight Karo…

  • Makington says:

Dan Hardy just got a title shot basically handed to him. I won’t get on his case with the whole, ‘you don’t deserve it dickhead!!!’ case, and it wasn’t his fault Dana gave him the shot, but it would be even crazier to turn it down to fight his friend. If you gave me a title shot against GSP, I’d take it without a second thought. Sure, 99.9999999% I’d get my ass kicked somewhere into next week, but anything can happen in MMA, we’ve seen it tons of times.

Paul Daley already stopped one fella’s title shot, and although I know he’d love to do it again, Dan would be insane to take the fight. I’m actually liking the Alves suggestion, which would be a tough ass 2 fights in the UFC.

Ben Saunders is probably still healthy too. If he felt well enough to take a shorter camp and win against Daley, that would be huge for his career.

    Daley vs. KOSCHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Makington says:

Koscheck is already set to rematch Paulo Thiago, and we all know that’s the one fight that he’s been most upset about…

i like the sound of that

I would love to see Daley vs Kos as well but as Makington has already stated its a no go.
Alves is a huge step up from Condit. Still like the match up cause I love Alves and that is a win for him

I LOVE the sound of that. I was really looking forward to watching Dustin fight until that one was yanked out from under him.
You can’t take a guy like Semtex lightly though, so unless he can sync his training cycle up in time to peak for this fight, I don’t know if I would take such a dangerous fighter on such short notice.

I Agree with you… that’s why I’m a little sceptical when Alves name is mentioned.

For whatever reason, I just picture him at 225lbs., sitting around having a beer, when the phone rings, and he’s like “you want me to fight Semtex, at 170, in less then a month?”. , he hangs up the phone.
Not that Alves would be scared to fight, but I just can’t see him getting ready on less then four weeks notice.

I know he is, but if he fights smart uses his takedowns and gnp, he will easily win this fight and still be able to go in February. Koscheck has said that he wants to fight 10-12 times in 2010, and this would be a great start to achieving those aspirations.

  • Makington says:

10-12 times in a year is just unreasonable. I would like to make 3 million dollars this year, but that won’t happen either. Unless he doesn’t take even one punch in any fight he will never be cleared to fight that much. I’ll be surprised as hell if he does more than 6. (Which is the current record I believe, held by Roger Huerta)

Chances are he’d be on medical suspension more than once, and there goes his new years resolution.

  • Wow Scott H called that one. And I agree Dustin shouldn’t take Daley lightly. Semtex Vs. Daley is almost a replica of what this fight was supposed to be. The only difference I see is that Dustin smiles more than Condit. :)
